Installing Windows 7 Build 7057 – 43 Screenshots Gallery

Posted by Mohamed Moustafa On March - 13 - 2009

Microsoft is making headway toward the Release Candidate of Windows 7. The Redmond company has been producing Win 7 builds from the RC-branch since December 2008, when it signed off the code for Beta Build 7000. The latest development milestone of the next iteration of the Windows client to make it out of Redmond is Build 7057. Windows 7 Build 7057.winmain.090305-2000 was leaked this week and made available for download via top BitTorrent trackers worldwide.
The software giant has yet to confirm the existence of 7057, but then again, Microsoft has not been all that talkative about the interim development milestones it serves to close partners and select testers in the evolution of Windows 7 from Beta to Release Candidate.
At the bottom of this article you will be able to find no less than 43 screenshots illustrating the installation of Windows 7 Build 7057 as a guest operating system in a Virtual PC 2007 virtual machine. Don’t expect any significant differences in the actual process in comparison to earlier development milestones, including Windows 7 Build 7048. However, at the same time, there are modifications that manage to stand out and that will certainly grab your attention.
Two of the changes are consistent enough to mark the transition from Beta to Release Candidate. First off, in the End User License Agreement, Windows 7 Build 7057 is labeled Release Candidate 1. Even as far as Build 7022, Windows 7 milestones continued to be referred to as Beta, under the EULA.

This is no longer the case, with the RC label representing Microsoft’s proximity to the fully fledged RC with Windows 7. In addition to the EULA, Windows 7 Build 7057 also features a new logon screen, as you can see from the screenshots, with the image featuring what appears to be a hummingbird.

Windows 7 Build 7048 100 Screenshots Gallery

Posted by Mohamed Moustafa On March - 7 - 2009

Microsoft is making consistent progress with Windows 7’s evolution from the Beta to Release Candidate. And make no mistake about it, all Windows 7 development milestones superseding Build 7000 (Beta) are from the RC-branch. The latest release from Redmond to make it into the wild is Windows 7 Build 7048, sporting an array of modifications specific to the first and only Release Candidate of the operating system. Of course, having shipped a feature-complete Beta, the focus with the development of RC is on softening all the rough edges of the platform and integrating tester feedback. And there is quite a lot of feedback to handle, according to data made public by Microsoft. At the end of February 2009, Chaitanya Sareen, a senior program manager on the Core User Experience team, delivered a list with the RC modifications Microsoft was cooking, and Windows 7 Build 7048 features all of them as far as I can tell, because there are details such as touch enhancements that I cannot test on my hardware. “We’ve been quite busy for the past two months or so working through all the feedback we’ve received on Windows 7. It should be no surprise but the Release Candidate for Windows 7 will have quite a few changes, many under the hood so to speak but also many visible. Some have asked if the featureset is “frozen” then what will we change – we change a lot of things in the beta based on feedback and we try to do so in a systematic manner with the focus on the goals for the release. The goal of having a fully functional Beta was to make sure we received reliable feedback and not a lot of “hey this doesn’t work at all” sorts of reports. This has allowed us to really focus on delivering a refined RC where the changes we made are all the reflection of feedback we have received,” revealed Steven Sinofsky, senior vice president, Windows and Windows Live Engineering Group, on February 26.

Integrated Windows components are installable/uninstallable from Windows Components Wizard: see here

*Only for Nlite users: 3 files from this addon are oddly recognized from Nlite as older compared to those contained on w2k CD and they are not updated. If you don’t want to modify Nlite settings as Xable suggests here below (thanks to him), you must integrate this addon too, otherwise WU asks you for missing hotfix :
